Patti Maxine: Lap steel virtuoso and vocal stylist, Patti Maxine has become a household word in Santa Cruz area as well as Hawaiian circles. A musical Swiss army knife, she handles a variety of styles with ease, sliding gracefully from Hawaiian to swing, from R&B and rock, from blues to jazz and back again. She has played with countless bands, established and up-and-coming musicians and visiting Hawaiian players.

Audiences love her incredible musicianship and unique vocal interpretation along with her comfortable and fun stage presence, and undeniable oneness with her music. She always leaves 'em wanting more. Ginny Mitchell: An accomplished singer, writer and instrumentalist, Ginny began singing at age 4 and playing guitar at 12. First-time listeners and longtime fans are drawn in by her honest soulful delivery. Ginny gained international acclaim when she won the Canadian Country Music Associations Best New female Vocalist. This win lead her to tour throughout Canada and the US. She opened for Merle Haggard in Sacramento and knocked out the packed house with her entertaining set.

Squirrels of Wisdom was formed in 2018 when four women came together to perform at a homegrown music festival. They had such a good time that they've been playing together ever since. Their scurry of Squirrels has grown to six and they're having more fun than ever! With each band member contributing song ideas, they play an eclectic mix of original songs and rocking covers. The Squirrels of Wisdom are in it for the fun of it and they'll put a smile on your face and a shake in your tail!

Join Jazz The Dog featuring Patti Maxine, Rhan Wilson, Rick Zeek and Bill Bosch for an afternoon/evening of music at El Vaquero in Corralitos.

Named after their dog mascot, Jazz The Dog performs an eclectic mix of Americana-inspired originals, re-imagined covers, and spontaneous forays into improvised flights of fancy. Gail Rich award recipients Patti Maxine (lap steel, vocals) and Rhan Wilson (guitar, vocals) are joined by Rick Zeek (guitar, vocals) and Bill Bosch (bass), forming a unique and unforgettable combo that often features special guest performers.

With each performance, Jazz The Dog is seeing their audience grow in both numbers and appreciation for their honest vibe and connection with one another.

We’ll have award winning wines and delicious food by a quality local food truck. Tickets are $10 prepaid (via El Vaquero reservation system at https://reservations.elvaquerowinery.com/). Day of the show seats (if available) are $15.

Phil has been a fixture in Bay Area music for almost 50 years. Songwriter, singer, guitarist, kazoo player, and bandleader, he was the original music director of the Pickle Family Circus and Circus Flora of St. Louis, singer/guitarist in The Cleanliness and Godliness Skiffle Band (Vanguard Records), bandleader and guitar playing singer for Country Joe McDonald, and an organizer and driving force for the notorious Masked Marauders rock super star spoof on Warner Bros. A longtime Berkeley and Santa Cruz resident, Phil is featured on the Folkways collection “Berkeley Farms” (rumors that he is dead are as yet unfounded.) With Phil Greenberg, he was half of the imaginatively named country duo, Phil and Phil in the 60’s, and was a charter member of The Honey Baked Hams, legendary Paris Street singing group in 1963 and 64. His tenure with Berkeley’s East Bay Sharks rabble rousing street opera group should not go unmentioned. Phil has lived for 30 years in New York City where he has been singing, writing songs, performing, and providing soundtracks for documentaries.

Her achievements include: World Championship Steel Guitar 1955 (Ohio – age 17!), induction in Sacramento Western Swing Society Hall of Fame in 2011, Gail Rich award 2017, San Lorenzo Valley Woman of the Year 2018, Good Times cover story 2018, and participation as a master player at the Lap Steel Festival on Maui from 2014-2018.

Richard Saunders, bass

Richard Saunders has played with Country Joe and the Fish, Eddie Jefferson, Richie Cole, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Pickle Family Circus, and the San Francisco Mime Troupe. He has also recorded with Country Joe and the Fish, The Cleanliness and Godliness Skiffle Band and Jessica Williams.

As the lead guitarist for the China Cats and Painted Mandolin, Matt Hartle has established himself as the preeminent jam band guitarist for Santa Cruz and the Bay Area. You can also find him hosting a weekly deep dead jam, where he welcomes Bay Area players for Grateful Sunday shenanigans. Matt’s unique voice and intricate playing style always gets the audience on their feet and feeling their groove. You’ll be dancing to songs from legends like Jerry Garcia, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, as well as rock, blues, jazz, americana, and of course some Matt Hartle originals. Stop by for a “Thursday after work” brew and some hot hartle licks when Matt returns to Discretion Brewing for 1st Thursdays of the month this summer.
