Jazz The Dog with Patti Maxine

Fruition Brewing, 918 E Lake Ave., Watsonville, CA 95076

Jazz the Dog is the new name for an old band of musical friends: Rhan Wilson, Rick Zeek, and Patti Maxine. No, they don’t play jazz, although they can be a bit jazzy. They actually play an eclectic mix of Americana, originals, soul, and sometimes oddly rearranged cover tunes. Slow and steady, fast and pumpin’, groovin’ – these three keep it “in the moment”, improvising as they go.

Jazz the Dog will be opening for Antsy McClain - THIS SUNDAY, April 28 at 6:30 PM at Roaring Camp in Felton, CA!

Bring Mom n' 'nem!

ANTSY MCCLAIN AND THE TRAILER PARK TROUBADOURS

April 28, 6:30pm with Jazz the Dog

Live at Bret Harte Hall! Whether he’s performing solo or with his incredible band of musicians called the Trailer Park Troubadours, Antsy McClain will have you “laughing til your cheeks are sore,” and tearing up over “the good stuff:” love, family and friends.

Antsy McClain is hilarious. He is also insightful and heartwarming.

Whether he’s performing solo or with his incredible band of musicians called the Trailer Park Troubadours, Antsy McClain will have you “laughing til your cheeks are sore,” and tearing up over “the good stuff:” love, family and friends. As a songwriter, Antsy wants to touch every emotion. “I love to make people laugh – if we can laugh, we can heal – and that will always be a big part of my shows. But without something deeper, it’s just a superficial cartoon: me with the big hair, plaid pants and funky clothes, the band with their antics. We have a good time up there, but we want to leave you with tears in your eyes from laughing and from recognizing that life is short so enjoy the ride.”

Antsy calls what he does “humor with heart.” Funny without ridicule. Sentimental without saccharine.

Multi-instrumentalist Ben Pearl grew up in the Central Valley of California. A fan of the delta breeze, he enjoys the occasional midnight t-shirt weather and long walks on the creek.

About Joshua Lowe:

Joshua's dad had records, lots and lots of records. And he had free reign. At an early age Joshua began to explore the history of American music. From Count Basie to Fats Dominio, Hank Williams to Hoyt Axton, Robert Johnson to Willie Nelson; Dylan, Parton, Holly, Presley, Wainwright, Cash; The Supremes, The Dead, The Beatles, The Blasters; Folk, Doo Wop, Big Band, Country & Western, Rhythm & Blues, Rock & Roll.

Sitting in front of his dad's record collection, digging through the stacks till an album cover caught his eye; the scratch of the needle; the brief moment of calm before the first blast of sound; the hours spent around the turntable truly was the beginning of his passion and connection to music.

"Hey hey Everybody This PBS Special features Santa Cruz Treasure, Patti Maxine who is by far younger than most of us in ever such glorious ways 💚💜💙"

Bob Gliner (pictured) has completed a new documentary, "Being 80." Let's watch!

Being 80, will air this coming Sunday, Feb. 11, at 10 AM and 5 PM throughout the San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas on PBS station KQED Plus.

You can also view "Being 80" on the PBS website:

https://www.pbs.org/video/being-80-i7ll0w/

Here's the official announcement:

When we reach our 80s the expectation is to stay out of the way, while leaving younger generations to make the world work. The consequence of a pervasive ageism, the older you are, the less you have to contribute, the more obsolete your knowledge and body. Being 80, a new documentary film from Bob Gliner, completely contradicts this stereotype, showcasing a vibrant, unique, memorable and diverse range of 80 year olds still finding meaning in their lives not only through their long lived career choices, but by helping others in the process, and as a result, making the world a better place in which to live.

Being 80 airs throughout the San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas on PBS station KQED Plus (Comcast 10 and 710), Sunday, Feb. 11 @10 AM and 5 PM as part of nationwide broadcasts over the next few months.

"Thanks to all for your wonderful comments. I have not seen the film yet, but just to let you know, there are others involved, such as Luis Valdez, Nita Gizdich, John Brown Childs, C.C. Yin, Amalia Mesa-Bains and a few others." Patti
